Wednesday October 16th. Baltimore, MD.
On September 26, Hurricane Helene began making landfall along the East Coast causing extensive damage in its path. Just two weeks later, Hurricane Milton swept Florida for a second time. Manatee County, FL and Asheville, NC were hit particularly hard by these storms. In Manatee County, streets were flooded, homes were damaged, and animals were stranded or displaced by the storm. In Asheville, unprecedented flash floods, impacted pets and families across the area, destroying countless lives.
The Manatee County Humane Society of FL (HSMC) survived Hurricane Milton but not without significant damage to their shelter. A large tree fell on top of their cat cottage, critical fencing was lost in both dog play areas, their laundry area is severely damaged, lots of debris require clean up and their clinic is still without power. They are grateful to still be standing but recovery efforts are extensive.
Brother Wolf Animal Rescue (BWAR) of Asheville, NC was completely devastated. Flooding reached a critical level they never expected. Water rose to the tops of their buildings, swallowed their vehicles and destroyed all resources. In preparation, all animals were evacuated thanks to the beautiful community in Asheville. Lots of animals are still in foster care, many of which are running out of supplies. Despite the magnitude of devastation, BWAR continues to care for the animals in their region by transporting many to partner rescues and setting up an emergency facility.
It’s time for the Kittie Kittie and Puppie Love communities to stand up and do what we do best. These shelters need our help now more than ever. The Stronger Together tees are live now in the Shop. Help us rescue Manatee County Humane Society and Brother Wolf Animal Rescue from the aftermath of these catastrophic storms! 100% of the net profits of the sale of these shirts will be donated to HSMC and BWAR.
